HIV actors in bareback porn
Interesting exchange on another site regarding bareback porn. If you haven't been paying attention, bareback porn is now the rage and there seems to be more actors having raw sex in front of the cameras than those with condoms. I remarked about this a while back. It seems others are beginning to wake up to the reality on their computer screens.
Excerpts from the discussion:
How do you guys feel about HIV poz actors in your porn?
He's gotta make a living, but at he same time he's putting everyone at risk. I'm sure Jesse knows what he's getting himself into. Peace & Take Care
it's really surprising that so many of us in the gay/bisexual life don't realize some simple facts!!! as reported several years ago by a respectable news paper, The Los Angeles Times...the MAJORITY of all gay porn actors are HIV+ (these are the safe sex performers who wear condoms). 99.9% of the ones doing raw/bareback porn are HIV+, they leave the .01% for those who enter the industry negative, but shortly thereafter become positive. and 95% of EVERY porn performer i have seen on film has gotten fucked at some point on video. and we many of them def get fucked off camera. then when u add the extremely high illicit drug use, from weed, alcohol, meth, coke, crack and I've even seen dudes willingly use G (the date rape drug)...the majority of these dudes are lost and turned out in some ways.
When I replied earlier (okay if informed choice and willing consent), I hadn't considered drug use and addiction, as well as the desire some people have to live on the edge. I will say it bothers me when I see a participant clearly drugged out, dislikes what they are doing, or just doesn't care about anything. An example is one of the scenes where Castro bottoms (where many people have made fun of him for his voice going really high). He seems like he hardly knows what's going on - too easily manipulated. I tend to assume that people have good sense enough to think past today and look out for at least their own best interest. I forget that not everybody received good information about life while growing up; or had people they trusted to give them honest facts and a living example about alcohol and drugs and how they can weaken ones good inhibitions and sense of self preservation.
I suppose it is reasonable to consider that participants may not be in it for the fun as well as money, but from desperation of some kind. A lot to think about...I may end up deleting some stuff I have saved.
If you watch bareback porn, why are you concern if the actors are HIV+ or not? In my opinion if you were really concerned about the health of the individuals you watch in porn then you would not watch or support bareback porn. But bareback porn is one of the largest sections in the porn industry especially in the area of gay black porn. The comments about drug use and manipulation in the porn industry mentioned earlier are true. These boys and men have been turned out by virtue of their addiction mostly to illicit drugs from weed, alcohol, meth, coke, and crack. Sure there is the occasional good boy just addicted to good old sex or the fast and relative easy money that can be garnered from such activities. Bottom line: if your moral character is that you don't want your porn stars to be drug addicts or HIV+ then maybe you need to stop watching porn. Just know that as long as you are just sexing your favorite porn star on the screen then it is not likely that he will pass the virus on to you.
In terms of bareback, it's because it's natural and it's there. If everyone still used condoms as they did when HIV was still an automatic death sentence, I wouldn't complain as I remember the 1980's. Those who were born or came of age after advances in medicine diminished the IMMEDIACY of the need for protection don't have the same perspective as those who experienced the sickening and death of many loved ones and acquaintances (or even strangers). If all performers started using condoms again effective today, I would appreciate the good sense and still enjoy the sharing of intimacy.
